Here's a brilliant idea

A charity campaign has been launched to create the world’s shortest recipe book.

‘Tweet Pie’ is crowdsourcing 140-character recipes – ’twecipes’ – to include in a book to be published later this year.

To enter, Tweet a recipe including the hashtag #Tweetpie. The best entries will be featured in the book.

Tweet Pie will be published and sold in aid of FoodCycle, a charity that redirects edible surplus food thrown away by food retailers to create nutritious meals for people affected by food poverty.

I love the simplicity of it all, and of course, it's for a great cause. Just share a recipe on Twitter including the hashtag #Tweetpie and you could be featured in The World's Shortest Recipe Book. What's not to love about that? :)

And it should only take a few seconds to do, so what are you waiting for, tweet now!

Jessie made a superb corned beef with cabbage, carrots, onions and celery. It is definitely one of my favorite stick-to-your-ribs meal. She also (upon request) made her famed mashed potatoes champ style. Not only that, but she went a little above and beyond with some very green potatoes... which I wasn't aware of until they were practically on my plate :p

Festive!

Lately, we spend extra time every weekend planning for the baby. Today, we got some cute clothes (one outfit with some fun Asian pandas) and brewed up some ideas for the nursery. Jessie also spent some time crocheting booties - yay! They look awesome so far, I'll post some pics when they're finished.

We had our 20 week ultrasound today and the verdict is in - we've got a little baby Dugas girl on our hands!! Jessie and I are super excited, and are really appreciative of everyone else that is sharing in our bundle of joy.

Watching the ultrasound at this point was really amazing.. it's like real-time video of our baby being active and just well, doing stuff in the womb. Her legs were crossed, she stretched out a bunch, and in this shot she was having a fine time sucking her thumb (she must take after the baby Jessie).

We'll be in the delivery room before I know it!

Sun, 21 Feb 2010 18:34:00 -0800 20 Weeks http://blog.craigdugas.com/20-weeks-4 http://blog.craigdugas.com/20-weeks-4

Time is really flying by, and we've just landed on a big week. Not only are we roughly half-way to delivery, but we also purchased a bag of diapers today (marking our first official newborn-related product purchase).

Later this week, we'll head over to Bozeman Deaconess hospital to get an ultrasound and hopefully learn the sex of the baby. Jessie's been dying to find out, and I'm somewhat curious myself. She's been doing really well throughout her pregnancy and has not had any noticeable sickness or legendary *wacky cravings.

Attached is a photo of Jessie coming along at about 20 weeks.

* Jessie claims to not have any cravings, but she is definitely eating foods from her childhood that I've never seen her eat before... hmm!

This pasta dish brings back the flavors of the warm Philly cheese steaks I grew up enjoying. Thin macaroni gets a generous layer of seared, hand-shaved steak and a mixture of grilled onions, bell peppers and mushrooms. The plate is then topped off with a hot layer of provolone and white american cheese sauce.</drool>

Pupusas represent the national food of El Salvador. These warm, stuffed Salvadoran flatbreads are based on a simple mixture of masa (corn flour) with warm water. Inside pupusas de queso, we used a fresh mozzarella cheese that melted perfectly.

_dsc_0194_copy

Finding time to make soup isn't easy. Sometimes it takes hours to get the perfect flavor and consistency. I've been trying to get around to making enchilada soup for a while now, but it seems like the past week or two have been action-packed. Tonight, I finally found the time to craft up a batch.

I've never had enchilada soup, but wintertime in Montana is very inviting to any soup, so I thought I'd put together a bit of a culinary creation. This is my first time pouring enchilada sauce on anything but enchiladas, and it's also my first time using masa harina (corn flour) to flavor and thicken soup. Fortunately, it worked quite well. I'm happy with this soup and look forward to making minor improvements to the recipe before it's finalized.

Schedulicity.com New Feature Release Focuses on Speed, Responsiveness and Social Media
Customers at the center of the company’s message and site redesign
January 28, 2010 – Bozeman, Mont
Schedulicity.com (http://www.schedulicity.com) announced today to customers its most ambitious software release with dozens of new features to make the online appointment scheduling service even easier to use, more responsive, more social and now faster than ever before. While the company has nearly doubled the available features since its beta-launch in March 2009, the price remains at $29 per month for a single user and $49 for 2-20 users. At the same time, the company launched a new website whose purpose is to amplify the voice of the service professional.

New Calendar Features
Schedulicity’s new and improved calendar speeds appointment creation with drop-down menus, an appointment clipboard, and the ability to change the daily schedule on the fly. A one-click “Today” button is designed to streamline time spent in the calendar. New 5-minute calendar increments allow greater flexibility and appeal to a broader array of service industries. Recurring appointments, reservation detail bubbles and overarching calendar navigation enhancements are designed to make the industry’s most simple-to-use service even more intuitive.

I'm loving the latest release of Schedulicity.com! (And that I can show it off on my Android-based phone) :-)

Sat, 16 Jan 2010 17:56:40 -0800 Coconut Cakes http://blog.craigdugas.com/coconut-cakes-0 http://blog.craigdugas.com/coconut-cakes-0 I donated a small amount of assistance to Jessie's day-long culinary work to create fresh, homemade coconut cupcakes and mini cakes. By starting with fresh coconuts, she was able to add them to the cake, frosting, and then sprinkle some that we shredded on the outside since it has such a mild natural flavor.

We ended up with a bunch of cupcakes and two 4-inch mini cakes, so they should last us a while :)

Jessie and I were just at the doctor's office and heard a very strong little 13-week-old heartbeat coming from the belly. We're looking forward to the little adventure that lies ahead.

A 60 second audio clip from our doctor visit with a bit of doctor commentary is attached below... if you're interested in that sort of stuff :)

Documenting another great Thanksgiving day! There's never enough time to take pictures when a homemade meal is hot & ready and waiting to be enjoyed, but I was able to grab the camera to capture a couple tasty memories :-)

TurkeyHutterite, seasoned with s&p, stuffed with onion, garlic, savory seaonings.
Mashed potatoes: Just like Jessie's made them for years.. delicious!
Apple-Cranberry sauce: A tart treat. (recipe)
Stuffing: From scratch - wheat bread, onions, celery, water chestnuts, savory seasonings, Bell's seasoning, s&p, turkey stock.
Rolls: Brown 'n Serve and Butterflake.
Gravy: Made from Better Than Bouillon Turkey.

This is the first time I've purchased a local Hutterite Colony-raised turkey and it was impressive - very juicy and cooked perfectly.
